Untitled 210209

Replaced the motor and esc on my TT01 with a set of brushless ones for low maintenance and crazy torque. Tested drifting with it just now, super shiok!

Had a serious talk with dear yesterday about our relationship, now we understand each other even better.

Someone confessed to my sister after just 3 weeks of school. He is only 166cm tall, can do 28 chin up, is a retainee, and in boys’ school since primary school. Although my sister did not agree to being his girlfriend yet, she changed her facebook status to “in a relationship”. It feels damn weird when your cute little sister is growing out and some stranger is interested in her. Let me see if I can meet the guy soon and give my seal of approval.

Managed to get a 8am-5pm, 5 day work week job with help from my wonderful dad, and without going for an interview, which I totally dread. I was told I can start work anytime one day after sending my Olevel and Alevel cert to the HR manager. It pays $10 per hour and no fucking job agency gets to eat a single cent from my labour.

The spur gear on my E-firestorm is now totally stripped, Taising still has no delivery schedule since 1 month ago when I decided to get a replacement from them. This is disappointing as my E-Firestorm is now grounded.

My brainpower has deteriorated and now that I am really and finally going to ORD, I have decided to blog more regularly. I have decided to stay away from politics though, as I feel I am still too immature to offer my viewpoints on them. Despite the lure of high visitorship by posting brainless and meaningless posts, I’ve decided to use this blog as what it really is… an online diary. A public record of my experiences.

Enlistment and ORD

When you are enlisting for NS, you read from the first sentence to the last. However when you are ORD-ing, read from the last sentence to the first. A lousy attempt, but well, you get the gist.

army!
when I step out of
my house
And I finally embark on a journey to
hell
I say goodbye to
my loved ones
and spend the rest of my life with
the greens
I put off
my tears
I don’t see a reason for
the army
I had no choice but to serve
NS
ending my
Freedom!

Topical tests no use one LAH!

There is a recent proposal to scrape year end exams for Primary 1 and 2 students, and to replace these with topical test.

This move was done on order to “shift the focus of schools from academic”. This is just plain silly. How does giving MORE tests at higher frequency shift the focus of schools from academic?

Anyone who bothered to excel in schools would remember the frustrating period of “mugging” for the examinations, trying to cramp a whole year of topics taught in a few weeks or days or for some lazier ones, hours (depending on how early you start preparing for examinations).

The period of preparing for examination comes with high stress level and makes life miserable. But you only have to endure it once per year. Then its the sweet reward of long school holiday for the books to take a little vacation from you.

Now tests are to be conducted for every single topic. That is X number of stressful periods, where X is the number of topics in a particular subject, multiplied by the number of subjects taken. And after each tests, you are not rewarded by a holiday. You are rewarded by being asked to prepare for the next tests.

It is important to build up good foundation from young, and any incompetency in any of the subjects in Primary school would affect the individual’s understanding or mastery of future courses and subjects that is built upon this foundation. I did not pay attention during classes on grammar, thinking that such lessons are boring. Look at my English now. I select tenses to use totally by feeling alone. Grammar mistakes marred bmy otherwise OK essays in my General Paper (Top 10% in AJC) and blog entries. By putting tests into small chunks, students will score really well, but are they really good with the subject as a whole? My own personal experience is that after moving on to topic 2, by the time topic 2 is being tested, I would have forgotten everything in topic 1 even though I have passed the topic 1’s test with flying colour. How will the students ever learn anything? It would be a learn, excel, and forget everything affair. Why would students bother to revise an older topic if it is not longer tested?

They will end up like me with a bad foundation.

Having a year end examination is useful to help students consolidate the knowledge they have acquired that year.

Topical tests no use one LAH!
