Weikiat’s Q-Steer Speed/Motor Mods

Q-Steer are damn fun toys. They are the size of Choro-Q, TakaraTomy’s pullback cars, but instead of having those oldish pullback mechanisms, you have full remote control over Q-steer.

I did some mod on them, and here are some videos of the cars moving at fast speed:

The red car, a Mazda Rx8, is has its stock motor and gears removed and replaced with a slightly bigger sized motor from Bit Char-G, an older type of micro r/c toy. I bought it many years back, and my Bit Char-G has spoilt, but I keep it around to harvest its parts. The gears also has a lower ration, meaning it would produce less torque but more top speed compared to the stock one. I believe it is the same as the high speed gears included in some of the “High Performance” version of the Q-steer toys that costs $5 more than regular ones.

Chassis of a Bit Char-G with its motor, rear wheels and gears removed.

Chassis of a regular Q-Steer. Note that the rear tires are taped to allow it to do some spinning.

The motor on the left is a high speed motor from Bit Char-G. The motor on the right is a regular speed motor from Q-Steer. The Bit Char-G motor has to be filed using sand paper to fit properly into the Q-Steer.

The next mod, the one I did for the blue car, a Skyline GTR R34, was to take out the motor from my dead Q-Steer Micro Buggy, and the gears from another Bit Char-G, and put both of them into a single Q-Steer. The result Frankenstein Q-Steer is even faster than the RX-8.

Motor from the Q-Steer micro buggy fitted with pinion from Bit Char-G.

For some reason the micro buggy motor is shorter, so the pinion gear should not be slotted all the way in. Also, proper adjustments must be made to ensure the gears mesh together properly so that they can turn freely without obstructions.

I’m waiting for my 5mm blue leds to arrive and will add them to my Q-Steers as my next mod. Hope it will be successful. Stay tuned!

“Poor” rich people?

There people are common sight along Orchard road. Pardon me for being unsympathetic, but looking at their sound system and vehicle (got license plate of 8888 some more), I highly doubt they are as needy as they seem to be.

Is this even legal?

This is how NUS PRC use laptop…

I was accompanying my gf on a Sunday in NUS during her preparation for her exams when I noticed a foreign talent from the mainland using his laptop with a weird posture. He kept that posture for about an hour before changing into something I think is more normal.

You can’t really see it in the photo, but his behind was a few centimetres off the bench. He was squatting on it.

Sorry I suck, but if I keep that position for too long I think the whole room would be filled with my flatulence.
