Here are some insights on what an ACJC student feel about the media publicity over the ragging incident.

Ok first of all, I don’t even understand what the hell is that reporter’s problem. If it was that such big a deal, shouldn’t the girl be traumatized? She would have gone for counseling, leave school and stay at home and not eat, turn anorexic and run away when she sees a cake, eventually culminating in her suicide.
EVIDENTLY that did not happen.
So, this “concerned” retard’s argument doesn’t even hold.
Secondly, tagging the video “loser” is done in FUN not to mock and ridicule the person. Ok to be fair, the whole attempt was to make fun of the birthday girl. But that is what happens when you are a teenager! This is how, you learn to rise up from all these “mocking” nonsense and develop some sense of humour and become a social being, not some moron who stays behind the computer screen and analyze these videos secretly wishing that someone would pay her that much attention.
AND I MUST say that this was done for fun. It was obviously very elaborately planned and no one would give 2 hoots to show someone they care that its their birthday if all they want to do is to make fun of them. USE YOUR BRAINS! Put it to better use.

Err excuse me, are you the victim? If you’re not then DON’T SHOVE WORDS INTO HER MOUTH. That’s worse then stuffing her clothes with cake and milk.

And at the end of it all, a staff member was seen admonishing the students not for doing these to her, but for messing up the place.

First of all, you are not even the discipline master, let alone a teacher. So thats one reason that you should shut your trap. Secondly, I BELIEVE that our school teacher has a better sense of judgment then you do SINCE YOU ONLY SAW THE VIDEO and he was actually there. If the girl was REALLY CRYING don’t you think that he would have done something? Like I said USE YOUR BRAIN! Gosh.
“And to top it off, with reference to the attached picture , “tagged loser.jpg”, it’s disheartening to see that the person who uploaded the footage actually personally wrote “loser” as one of the tags to the video.

No no I’m sure the computer will tag loser instead of the person. OF COURSE THE PERSON WHO UPLOAD MUST PERSONALLY TAG LA! RETARD! I’m so sorry but we’re not that advanced yet. We must wait longer for all computers to have AI. And even so, I doubt the computer would be smarter to understand that “loser” in this case is not derogatory at all but just plain fun.
“What kind of a birthday celebration is this?”

I’m just sooo!!!!!! ANNOYED! That someone would have so much free time to bother about ridiculously insignificant stuff like this. If you really care so much go and save the Earth! Stop global warming. Now THAT is an embarrassment that the whole of Mankind has to live through, not some stupid HARMLESS video which clearly has no malice intended.

It’s fine. ACJC is part of a school of elite JCs in Singapore which are not meant for prudes anyway.

To be honest I have experienced worse, done worse and seen worse during my school days. Only difference is that then youtube and hp cameras were not widely available so no one even saw it on the internet. Yet end of it all, not once did I or any of the other “victims” felt traumatized or affected by whatever happened. It is all in the name of fun and to be honest, in a way it sometimes does feel good that at least “friends” remember our birthdays. And in a non-formal way, it was some sort of a rite of passage that one was accepted enough to be disturbed on their birthday.
That being said, it is a fact that such things have been happening even before the internet. Only reason why more attention have been given to it now is because it has been brought into the internet. I have seen the clip and many others, but yet never once did i feel outraged. In fact it brought back nostalgic memories of when I was younger. In my personal opinion, I feel that those who make a hullabaloo about it in actuality have their own issues. Maybe they never got to be teased, accepted or even had their birthdays celebrated for them when they were younger.
….even if the victim in question doesn’t mind it, they shouldn’t post the video on youtube, making a big scandal on the school, and of themselves in the future. If I’m a employer googling them in the future, I wouldn’t hire these people.
What a childish JC student. There are so many other factors to consider. Perhaps the reporter was a tad too sensitive,perhaps it was in the name of fun and all, but how much can we do in the name of fun? Birthdays can be celebrated normally, no one has to do ragging related action. Since when is ragging a justifiable in the name of fun?
Anyway, if he wants to be elitist, many of us can be too. ACJC was never an elite school in my opinion, at least when I was in JC 5 years ago. Now you know the kind of students and teachers (scolding them for dirtying the floor!) they have in the school.
What surprise me is the reply of the principal.

I had a similar incident when I was young. It happen when the nite was my birthday and a group of frz tried to grab me and take off my pants. I remb a total of 6 7 guys ganged out doing that to me.
However somehow I did managed to get myself free. In the end - I tot it was just seek of fun and frankly speaking I donno what’s the big deal here.. We were young and naive at 1 stage and do such silly things too right?
Why do the adults nowadays trying to be saint and start doing teaching ppl for that such things?
Some claimed what happened if this result something serious? I agree on that. But have you ever thought that anything can lead to something serious? Eating fishball can choke u. Crossing road might get bang by cars. Even zzz can lead to death as well. So what? We should always stay at enclose area and kept yrself safety at all time?
Come on. This is nature of live in Earth my dear. No pain no gain. No risk no success. The group her frz made an options to do that and it their choice. Don’t come and try to be god and tell ppl what not to do or should do.

Ragging is simply making fun at the expense of someone else’s suffering. The suffering may not be serious enough to lead someone to want to commit suicide. But it is suffering nonetheless. No one has the right to do unto others what others do not want to be done unto themselves. Whoever doesn’t understand this is simply too immature to even have the right to an opinion.
